why am i suddenly considering selling yoga mats?
I was just minding my own business when the idea popped into my head: ‘Why not sell yoga mats online?’ Sounds absurd, right? But let’s be real, everyone seems to be making a fortune selling the weirdest stuff these days.
So, you’ve probably heard of Amazon FBA. It stands for ‘Fulfilled by Amazon.’ Basically, you send a bunch of your products to Amazon, and they handle the shipping, customer service, and even returns. Sounds like a dream come true, until you realize Jeff Bezos wants a chunk of everything you sell. But hey, free shipping right?

Anyway, I found myself down a rabbit hole reading about it, and I gotta admit, it’s kinda fascinating. People are out here renting storage units filled with these flamingo pool floats or like, those ‘As Seen On TV’ things nobody asked for. Not joking, someone is out there raking in the dough by unloading truckloads of fidget spinners from 2017. They set up a store, list the items, then sit back and let Amazon do the grunt work. Kind of genius, really. But also, yikes, how sustainable is selling niche, seasonal stuff? Who knows.
Imagine becoming an accidental tycoon in some bizarre product category, like, I dunno, selling ‘wellness journals for cats.’ You bet there’s a market for that, somewhere amongst the vastness you’ll find on this endless sea of randomness that is Amazon.

Costs and pitfalls are there too, of course. Fees on fees on fees. Amazon’s always gonna get their pound of flesh. Then there’s the whole discerning which products will keep you in business versus the ones that’ll leave you staring at unsold stock while sourcing beanie babies.
Honestly, there’s something oddly tempting about it, about jumping into this chaos and seeing what happens. But then I remember I’ve never even owned a yoga mat—what do I know about selling them? My eyes still hurt. I need coffee. Ugh.
