i still don’t get youtube earnings hype

So, I somehow stumbled upon the crazy world of YouTube earnings — thanks to #hafizahmedpodcast and #duckybhai, which I didn’t even know I was subscribed to. And honestly, these guys are making numbers talk louder than their content. Monthly earnings? Really? Like that person you always knew in high school that would show off their new phone every year — except this time it’s about how much money they make.

YouTube Shorts came out of nowhere and grabbed everyone’s attention. Remember Vine? Yep, just disappeared, and then boom, we’re back to scrolling infinite seconds of random content — now with added monetization (because, duh, that’s where the real magic happens, right?) It’s like everyone’s on this frantic chase to be the next viral sensation, competing for views, subscribers, and of course, earning their cut (real folks, chasing digital jackpots).

It’s more of the same old story but with different characters and little skits. And oh, the theories! There are these podcasts and analyses on how certain YouTubers are stacking benjamins and others are left holding peanuts. I get it, we all want our fifteen minutes of fame, a slice of the digital pie. But isn’t it just another form of labor — albeit wrapped in a pretty algorithmic package with a bow on top?

So while people are out there calculating every like, view, and subscription like some modern-day stockbrokers, I’m left wondering — what happens when the algorithm changes or when the digital bubble pops? This whole internet celebrity and earnings game seems as unpredictable as that sickening dip on a roller coaster. Remember when people said blogs were dead, yet here we are? Everything is cyclical. Rant over. My eyes still hurt. I need coffee. Ugh.
