why blogging in 2025 feels like time travel

I just saw a notification about creating a blog on BlogSpot and, honestly, it feels like I’ve stepped into some wacky time machine. I mean, BlogSpot in 2025? Who would’ve thought people are still into that ancient web platform? (I’m a sucker for retro stuff, but this is next level.)

Okay, picture this: you’re trying to get all cozy and creative, but instead, you find yourself in some 2005-era user interface. The design hasn’t changed much, to be honest. It’s kind of like finding an old Walkman and realizing you’ve gotta hunt down actual tapes to relive the ’90s vibe. (Not that I’d sit down and actually use a Walkman, but you get my point.) But then again, I’ve seen ridiculous tech fads rise and fall, too.

Anyway, starting the whole process feels like jumping through hoops backward. ‘Create blog’ button? Check. Awkward theme choices that scream ‘take me back to the future’? Double-check. And don’t even get me started on fiddling with domain names. I tried getting creative, but everything’s either taken or restricted to some obscure subdomain concoction.

While I’m wrestling with nostalgic interfaces and quirky webpage elements, I wonder: aren’t we supposed to have AI doing all the heavy lifting by now? Or at least some kind of intuitive blogging assistant that can read my mind, format everything perfectly, and make my posts look halfway decent without a mental breakdown. Maybe it’s just my tech cynicism kicking in, which would explain why my grammar’s iffy even here. (Note to self: consider hiring an AI editor, if such a thing even exists these days.)

So, there you sit, trying to piece together a coherent blog in an electronic ghost town. Quartz-injected smart devices beep and flash around you while you fiddle with a relic that has somehow survived through time. Why we keep going back to a site like BlogSpot, when we have endless options, is a mystery as deep as why TikToks are addictive. But hey, at least the coffee’s still decent.
