why is lifestyle creep a thing?

So, here’s the deal. Lifestyle creep. What a pretentious name for something that basically screams ‘spend more, save less!’ You’ve got people hustling their hearts out, finally getting that paycheck bump, and boom, they blow it all on the newest gadgets or luxury nonsense instead of doing something sensible like investing. What even is the fascination with owning three different models of the latest phone? It’s like everyone’s in a race to accumulate more stuff just because they can, not because they need it.
